[Updatex3 - Back Again!] Chameleon Is A Kickstarter Project. Mission? Create A Stunning Homescreen Solution For Android Tablets

This Chameleon UI app reminds me of ROU UI. No, they are not similar in any way. In fact, they’re not even targeted at the same audience – ROU UI is (was? Last update from the developers of ROU UI was in February) aimed at smartphone users, whereas Chameleon is aimed at the Tablet users. Of course, we’re talking about Android.

Chameleon looks interesting. It’s totally different from what we’ve seen till date, and it looks pretty cool. But Chameleon devs wanted to sell this thing to OEMs. None of them seemed to have any interest whatsoever, so they took to Kickstarter. They now plan to have it up on the Play store (Android Market, if you are still unable to get around with this new, stupid branding) by September this year.

They also have a goal of $50,000, ~12% of which has been achieved, with 28 more days to go. And even if they reach the goal, it remains to be seen what happens next.

Update: And yay, the project will be funded on June 15th. What does that mean? The UI will become a reality in the coming days. Nice.

Update 2: They have cancelled the project, due to an unforeseen issue with the Amazon account used to accept payments. Not sure if they are really saying the truth, or have buckled under pressure, but they have promised to restart the project by asking for donations again, in a week’s time.

While this campaign has been very successful due to everyone’s support, due to unforseen problems with our Amazon Payments account we cannot accept any new pledges and all existing pledges will be cancelled.

We have spoken with Kickstarter, who have told us the best way to resolve the situation is to close the current project, and create a new Chameleon backing page, where you can re-pledge to receive your Chameleon App. We are grateful for all your support and have upgraded all rewards $5 and above with 5 Bonus Chameleon backgrounds.

People who have existing credit card authorizations from this project will be cancelled when this project is closed – and thus no charges will be applied to your credit card. We appreciate your patience, we are very excited to deliver world class software to everyone!

We are aiming to have the Kickstarter page live early next week, we will be sure to share it with everyone.

Update 3: Aaaand they’re back! They’ve relaunched the project as promised, and although they’d lowered their goal from $50,000 to $30,000, they’ve achieved it already! Can’t wait for their app. [Kickstarter page]
