Hasbro Sues ASUS For Using The Name “Tranformer Prime”, About Time They Did

Transformer Prime vs Transformer Prime

Some obvious news of the day. ASUS has been sued for using the highly popular name, “Transformer Prime” for its latest Android tablet.

Apparently, Hasbro, the toymaker, has trademarked the entire Transformers childrens’ names, and hence, it’s only fair they sue ASUS. The toymaker has filed the suit sometime last week and is seeking temporary injunction, along with damages.

An excerpt –

Hasbro continues to aggressively protect its brands and products and the specific actions we are taking today against Asus underscores yet again Hasbro’s willingness to pursue companies who misappropriate our intellectual property for their own financial gain.

Now, I’m not quite sure anyone could confuse the Transformer Prime tablet to be some sort of a toy from the toymaker, but then, the name itself is so popular, I think ASUS should pay some monies to Hasbro. Probably that would be the ideal way out.
