Ice Cream Sandwich Running Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Is Official
We had it coming. Samsung has announced a 10.1″ version of the Galaxy Tab 2. You’d do good to remember they’d announced the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. If you can’t, I won’t blame you. The sheer amount of Galaxy devices with similar, or super ultra amazingly confusing (see what I did there?) names can drive anyone nuts. Imagine our plight..
Anyway, coming back to the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (a Rhino dies every time I write down this name) – it comes with Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box. And no prizes for guessing this – it comes with a 10.1″ display. It’s of 1280×800 resolution, although it’s an LCD display (unlike the AMOLEDs we’ve been used to seeing from Samsung). That’s probably to reduce the price, I’d guess.
Here are the quick specs -
- Android 4.0 ICS with TouchWiz on top
- 10.1″ LCD display of 1280×800 resolution
- 1 GHz dual core processor
- 3 MP rear camera, front facing VGA camera
- 1 GB RAM, 16 GB / 32 GB internal memory, expandable with a microSD card by another 32 GB
- Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct
- Standard Li-ion 7,000 mAh battery
Quite good specs, I’d say. More than enough for a majority of the users out there, myself included. There are two versions 3G + Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi only. No information on the pricing yet, but Samsung’s let us know that it will become available starting March in the UK, along with the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0.
