Kyocera Shows Off Hydro And Qwerty Slider Rise – Both Running ICS
Sometimes, it’s not the big companies which do the innovative, or off the beats stuff. Kyocera has done something which not many other companies interested in carrying on. Heck, HTC even went on to say that people like thin devices, and don’t mind compromising on the battery. They even said they won’t be manufacturing Qwerty devices in the foreseeable future.
But Kyocera has shown off two devices – the tough guy Hydro, and the slide-out Qwerty keyboard toting Rise. Both these devices run Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box, which is another plus point.
The Kyocera Hydro can withstand water jets, and stay under a meter of water for about 30 minutes. It’s got IP57 protection rating. In other words, it’s not a delicate device at all. Much like the Motorola Defy and Defy+.
Quick specs -
- Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
- 3.5″ IPS LCD display of HVGA resolution
- 1 GHz processor
- 3.2 MP main camera
- 512 MB RAM, internal memory expandable with a microSD card (2 GB included)
- Bluetooth, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot
- 1500 mAh battery
The Kyocera Rise has the same set of specs and features, except that it comes with a slide-out Qwerty keyboard. Which is, very good to see. I’m a big fan of hardware keyboards, which is also why I’m keeping my Nokia E5 with me.
There’s no information on pricing and availability just yet, though we expect to receive more information in some time.
