Motorola Makes Xoom 2 And Xoom 2 Media Edition Official

Motorola yesterday announced the successor to the original Xoom – the Xoom 2 and Xoom 2 Media Edition. Before you imagine, they both run Honeycomb 3.2 (yeah, Meh-type stuff, I know), although Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 has been out for a while, already. Also, they will be available in Wi-Fi variants only, for now. 3G/LTE/HSPA versions will be released later. What better way to bum out people, heh.

The Xoom 2 comes with a 10.1″ display of 1280×800 pixel resolution. That’s the same as on the Samsung Galaxy Note, FYI. There’s a 1.2 GHz dual core processor under the hood, along with 1 GB RAM and 16 GB worth internal memory. Moto says that the Xoom 2 can give a back up of up to 10 hours.

On the back, there’s a 5 MP camera. And on the front, a 1.3 MP snapper. There’s a single LED flash on the back, so good luck with it.

The Xoom 2 Media Edition comes with pretty much the same specs as the Xoom 2, save for the 8.2″ display and decreased battery life at 6+ hours.

Both the tablets come with Splash Guard tech, a coating that prevents liquids from ruining the device. Good to see manufacturers adding this thing to the smartphones/tablets.

The Xoom 2 and Xoom 2 Media Edition will hit Ireland and UK by mid-November and soon after, other markets/countries. Price remains unknown, as of yet. We’ll update this post as soon as a price is announced, stay hooked.
