Here’s a small piece of obvious news – Sony has completed the buyout of Sony Ericsson (loved the name) and has rechristened it as Sony Mobile Communications, as the Tokyo based company tries to gain a foothold in the connected consumer electronics business.
Sony and Ericsson had announced back in October last year about this, wherein Sony has bought out Ericsson’s 50% stake in Sony Ericsson for a consideration of $1.47 billion.
Sony had started using its own brand name instead of Sony Ericsson at this year’s CES-launches, however that’s about it. It still sounds a tad weird, nevertheless. Guess I’m just too used to the Sony Ericsson brand, and that small green circular thing.
