Sony to unveil Xperia S and Xperia Ion with 12 and 13 megapixel cameras at CES
Sony might announce the successor to its Xperia lineup in the next 2-3 days at CES 2012. According to sources, the Xperia S will be the first phone from Sony to feature a dual core processor. Other (expected) specs are :
- Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread (with upgrade to ICS in near future)
- 4.3 inch LCD display HD res (1280 x 720 pixels)
- 12 megapixel camera with FullHD video recording
- 1.5GHz Dualcore Qualcomm Scorpion CPU with Adeno 220 GPU
- 1GB of RAM
- 16GB or 32GB Onboard Storage
- Front facing camera
- HDMI port
The interesting point is that if the screen size and resolution are correct, the display will have a pixel density of 350PPI (approx.) which is greater than the iPhone4/4S ‘s retina display (PPI=330). If rumors are true XperiaHD is the Nozomi which has leaked many times.
The othe phone Xperia Ion may be the camera flagship from Sony with specs similar to Xperia S above. According to Bluetooth.org it has the following specs
Here’s a summary of the main features:• – Tablet capacity Touch phone – XPERIA into super phone territory with LTE for ultra high speed entertainment TD-SCDMA, HSPA – 4.55” HD 720p Reality display Bluetooth 2.1 EDR – 13MP BSI camera & HD 720p Front camera , LED Flash – Bluetooth / WLAN: 802.11a/b/g/n (2.4GHz and 5 GHz) – Dual microphones (noise suppression and stereo recording)
We are not sure if the phone will be available globally or will be limited to China only. Also there is some confusion on whether the above devices will be branded “Sony” or “Sony Ericsson”.
