XDA Dev Ports Honeycomb To The Samsung Galaxy S

Some cool stuff in here. Devs over at XDA have ported Android Honeycomb to the wildly successful Samsung Galaxy S, the original Galaxy device. It’s still not intended for daily usage, so yeah, it won’t be your daily go-to driver, at the moment. Some things works and some don’t. For example, the calling facility doesn’t work just yet, in addition to Bluetooth.

There’s another rider, in case you decide to flash it anyways – you’ll need to have your SGS run on Froyo. For such people, the procedure listed below should be followed:

  • Root your device and install ClockworkMod Recovery.
  • (Optional) Go to recovery and make a Nandroid backup
  • Choose “mounts & storage” and format system, data, cache
  • Flash GalaxyComb.

For people who have been using CM7/MIUI ROM:

  • Format /system /data /cache /datadata
  • Flash the .zip and reboot
