No April Fool’s joke, this.
I’ve long been a fan of Android Police’s APK Teardowns. I’ve learned a lot, most of it being how to interpret a wall of code. I still haven’t got around to doing it myself, but they’re back with another teardown. Only this time, it’s not a Google app – it’s the much talked about Facebook phone.
Facebook had announced a few days back about their event, where they’d be revealing their new Home on Android. A lot of speculation was in the direction of a launcher from Facebook, and a tie-up with HTC. Turns out a lot of people were right, and that Facebook was a tad too obvious in their press invite.
They’ve drawn out some of the specs – Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, 4.3″ HD resolution display, Dual Core Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 processor, Adreno 225 GPU, 5 MP and 1.6 MP cameras and 1 GB RAM.
If Ron’s interpreting it right, it could also mean that Facebook intends on releasing this ‘Facebook Home’ for other phones too.
How’d you like a Facebook Home, aka launcher? Seeing how much the Android app sucks, I’d likely stay far away from it apart from review purposes.
