LG Spectrum To Hit Verizon On January 19 – 4.5″ True HD IPS Display, 8 MP Camera But Still Gingerbread

LG Spectrum Verizon

Here’s a monster from LG, headed to Verizon – the thing is called Spectrum (anyone come with any more stupid names?), and it has the specs to take on other top dogs. Looks, not too sure.

Here’s the deal, guys and girls –

  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread (haha, haha, hah) with LG’s custom UI on top
  • 4.5″ True HD IPS display, 1280×720 pixels, ~329 PPI
  • 1.5 GHz dual core Snapdragon S3 processor
  • 8 MP main camera, capable of recording Full HD (1080p) videos; 1.3 MP front facing camera
  • 1 GB RAM, 4 GB internal memory, 16 GB microSD card pre-installed
  • 4G LTE capable, Bluetooth 3.0, Mobile Hotspot (up to 10 connections)
  • 1830 mAh battery

It looks like a killer smartphone on paper, definitely. Except for the ridiculous fact that it will come with Gingerbread at launch, although Ice Cream Sandwich was announced more than 2 months back. What is this, LG? I think it’s about time companies stop being the stupid capitalists that they are. Don’t worry though, the Spectrum will get ICS sooner or later. Just how long it takes for the update to pass through the maddening Carrier testing etc is something we’ll all be looking at.
