The Last Of The MeeGo Developers Leave Nokia, Join Hands To Build Their Own MeeGo-based Smartphones

A bunch of Nokia’s MeeGo team members had left the Finnish company, a couple of days back. They’ve now come together and will be helping Jolla Mobile in making new MeeGo-based smartphones. However, before you get excited, no, there won’t be any updates for your Nokia N9 or the developers-only N950. That’s understandable – those phones are Nokia’s products, so asking for updates from a non-Nokia company is stupidity.

According to Jolla’s page on LinkedIn, the team comprises of core people and directors from Nokia’s MeeGo team, with Marc Dillon being one of the Founding members of the team (he worked with Nokia for 11 years), and is also the Chief Operating Officer.

Together with international investors and partners, Jolla Ltd. will design, develop and sell new MeeGo based smartphones. The Jolla team consists of a substantial number of MeeGo’s core engineers and directors, and is aggressively hiring the top MeeGo talent to contribute to the next generation smartphone production.

I wonder who the “International Investors” and “Partners” are, but I’m going to watch how they go about it.
