Amazing? Amazing. Confusing? Pretty much. Nikon just lifted the covers off the Coolpix S800c, a dedicated camera running Android 2.3 Gingerbread. You’d ask why? Yeah, why?
It’s a low-end camera, with a 16 MP sensor, 10x optical zoom, and a 3.5″ LCD display. It’s got Wi-Fi built-in as well, so you know, you can do stuff with it. You can download your favorite camera apps from the Google Play store, and there’s GPS as well, so you can geo-tag your photos. And not to disappoint too much, the Coolpix S800c comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which might be ancient, but gets the job done.
Of course, it’s like a low-end camera and a low-end smartphone in a single shell, but, will it be enough to knock the socks off the Nokia 808 PureView? Not sure. No. It won’t be enough.
