How To: Use Nokia Messaging for Email

So, now that you have a smartphone ( phew! Finally!) that can do most of the things, in a smarter way, you’d want to know if the device is smart enough to push new mails directly to your device.

Today, we are here to talk about Nokia’s solution – Nokia Messaging for Email.

Note that we are by no means here to endorse a particular brand or its products ( to all those fellas doubting us after the recent N8 case). Yes, we have been talking more about Symbian than Android, but that’s just because we dont have an Android with us for reviewing or any other thing (hint to Android phone Manufacturers).

So, what is this Nokia Messaging for Email? Well, its a push-mail service – better, simpler than the Berry’s solution, believe me. Its not a corporate solution though.. Mail for Exchange takes care of that.

I have Nokia Messaging on my E72, but I have noticed that in my 2710 Navigator, the software is less user friendly. While on E72, I can register yahoo and gmail automatically, it seems on 2710 Navigator I must fill in the settings manually. Can someone tell me why?

I am trying to install on my new N97 mini but after completing all the information the installation always ends up with another messages box with gmail.com name, that is, it configures a maillbox in the preinstalled email client, which I dont want to use. Also I cant register at email.nokia.com : after typing my tel. number and mobile it shows me the page :

Download the most up to date Nokia Messaging software to your phone.

With your mobile phone browser go to http://email.nokia.com.

It seems I cant use Nokia Messaging app. (not the Nokia email preinstalled client on a N97 mini).

    Can you help me please?

    Thanks

Okay.. Go to messaging.nokia.com using your mobile browser. Download the application and complete the setup.. Restart the device, then select ‘email setup’. It should be under ‘installations’ most probably. Follow the steps. You should have a Nokia Messaging account before you setup though.

I cant register a Nokia Messaging account. Not from Spain, not with my telephone number. Are there any country/ISP restrictions ?

    Thanks again.

  • Marcos

On the other hand, there is no download option on this page.

There are no restrictions with regard to ISP. And yes, it is available in spain. You need to take care of the Access point that you select. NM for Email doesn’t work with WAP access point. Select ‘mobile office’ or similar one. Go to http://www.ovi.com and select ‘sign up for Ovi by nokia’. Provide that email address which you want as the primary one. You should be able to set it up now.

You need to point your mobile browser to messaging.nokia.com and select Email ‘download’. I’m talking about ‘web’ browser and not any third party app..
