Samsung Unveils Galaxy M Style M340S – Gingerbread, 4″ S-AMOLED Display And 1 GHz Processor

Samsung Galaxy M Style M340S

Here’s another Korea-first smartphone from Samsung, called as the Galaxy M Style M340S. Although you’d need to have amazing memory power to remember the name, the specs are quite normal, so that should help.

First off, there’s a 4″ Super AMOLED display, and Android 2.3 Gingerbread running, so that’s quite okay. Then there’s a Cortex A8 processor, clocked in at 1 GHz, so it should be quite relevant for another 8-10 months.

Wait. Let me dish out all relevant specs –

  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread, with TouchWiz on top
  • 4″ Super AMOLED display of WVGA resolution (800×480), ~233 PPI
  • 1 GHz single core Cortex A8 processor (no info about the GPU, yet)
  • 512 MB RAM, 4 GB internal memory, expandable by another 32 GB with a microSD card
  • 3.15 MP rear camera, can do HD recording (720p), VGA front facing camera
  • Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Wi-Fi Hotspot, GPS with aGPS
  • 1650 mAh Li-ion battery

If that sounds Greek and Latin to you, here’s the deal – you are looking at a smartphone that could cost you about $250, off-contract. Of course, that’s my estimate, but it should hold pretty well, given the price of other similarly specc’d smartphones.

If you’re wondering if it’s any good, it probably is quite good. The camera though could be a downer. File this under the list you should consider if a high-end smartphone is not something you can afford. Not sure if it’d be released elsewhere, though.
