The Samsung Galaxy R Is Now Official

Expanding its Galaxy series of Android smartphones, Samsung has made the Galaxy R official, after days of leaks.

Featuring a 4.2″ S-AMOLED+ screen, the Galaxy R runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and has a dual core 1 GHz processor under the hood. On the back, there’s a 5 MP Auto Focus camera, aided by a single LED flash. Speaker’s on the bottom. The camera can shoot 720p (HD) videos, and playback full HD (1080p) ones too.

On the memory front, there’s 1 GB RAM, so you can multitask happily. The Galaxy R comes with 8 GB internal memory, which can be expanded further up to 32 GB (totaling 40 GB) with a microSD card.

Samsung says Europe can get its hands on the device by July-end (hrrmm!) and a global release will follow.
