Mobile Web Usage Doubles, Nokia Leads All The Android OEMs Together Combined, Samsung Is Third
Smartphones (and some dumbphones) have become an indispensable part of our lives. They definitely have. I can’t imagine being disconnected even for a day. It’s no more an addiction, but need, I believe.
And, Statcounter reports that the total mobile web usage has doubled since the last year. It may still be about 10% of the total web usage, but the speed of growth is quite good.
Here’s some quick analysis of the position of different manufacturers -
- Nokia continues to lead the way, increased its share from 36% to 38% year-on-year
- Apple’s share fell by 1%, from 30% to 29%
- RIM was the biggest loser – its share fell from 19% to 8-9% in the same period
- Samsung was the biggest gainer, accouting for about 14% of the total usage, up from somewhere around 7-8%
Overall, though, Nokia and Apple both beat (individually) all the Android OEMs combined, so that’s something.
