Nokia Lumia 800 Gets Its First Custom ROM, Tons Of Goodies For The Courageous
The Lumia 800 is Nokia’s first Windows Phone, and it has now received some Custom ROM love, courtesy the dev community (duh!). The said ROM brings in lots of features which are either missing, or out of which the end users have been locked out. Better yet, it’s based on Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh (argh, this shit is so long!), aka Tango, so it’s very much up to date!
Stuff you’ll get -
- Full Unlock from UltraShot
- Removed OEM applications (Nokia Drive, Maps, etc.)
- Search key remapping
- QuickLaunch menu for quick switching state of WiFi, 3G, Flight mode, Power save, etc.
- Ability to access file system via WiFi/USB
- Integrated Live ID, DppImplant no longer needed, but new key can also be banned
- Orientation locker
- Added many color themes
- Easy installation xap from browser or file manager
- Unlocked Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts (limitation of Chinese firmware)
- Added Google and Yandex search engines
- xb0xmod cert for cab-updates
- Cab-updatable
- Lots of minor changes
- (downer) Updatability via Zune ISN’T GUARANTEED!
One thing though - this ROM is only for those with a Qualcomm bootloader, and you’ll probably need an unlocked phone. I’m not sure about this, the language there is pretty un-understandable. What does this mean? You’ll need to be geeky enough to go about this stuff. It’s pretty easy with Android, though..
